Notes Comment by Nichole "Vapor" Ayers, @Astro_Ayers, on her X account:

"I've received a lot of questions and comments about this picture. It's a testament to the unique view we have from the @Space_Station and what we can learn about the Earth from space. Also, turns out, this is a gigantic jet, another type of TLE. So cool to learn as we go up here. This shot was taken with a Nikon Z9 using a 50mm lens (f/1.2, ¼ sec, ISO 6400) as part of a time-lapse I set up in the Cupola.

Like @astro_pettit said, it takes planning, timing, and a lot of pictures to capture such a rare phenomenon. In this photo, the storm appears to be hovering near the Texas–Mexico border. You can spot the glow of Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston to the northeast, and Torreón, Mexico, to the southwest."

Notes on the photo are from Ayers' photo on X, with some corrections and amendments.
